We met Krista Kiin, the beauty column editor of the publication Eesti Naine, today, when six months have passed since she underwent the procedure called “Medemis Facelift”. Krista was highly positive and still extremely satisfied with the result. This is what she said:

Years come without asking permission and not a single cream can help against age. However, you can smooth your face and postpone the time when wrinkles become more conspicuous. For tired looks and saggy skin there are filler injections – an effective and long-lasting alternative to plastic surgery.
The skin of a young woman contains a lot of hyaluronic acid; with age, the body loses water as well as hyaluronic acid, which results in the skin losing its tone and appearance of lines. Apart from ageing, some wrinkles are caused by active mimic of facial muscles (for instance, on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, between the nose and mouth, on the chin). Biogels can support the face structure and tissues that have lost elasticity due to ageing. They contain hyaluronic acid that binds water and is inherent to human body, and help channel the water to the superficial layers of the skin, which makes the face fresh and smooth. True, they sell skin care products today, which also contain hyaluronic acid, but very often the hyaluronic acid molecules in them are bigger than the distance between cells in the blood vessel walls, and because of that the hyaluronic acid contained in the cream cannot penetrate the blood circulation of the body.
Alternative to surgical knife.
“Injectable fillers are intended to restore the firmness of the skin and smooth the lines in different areas of the face”, explains Kristel Kaur, Manager and Senior Nurse of Medemis Clinic. “In our clinic, we have developed the package called Medemis Facelift, which consists of three filler injections with hyaluronic acid that give volume”, continues Kristel Kaur. “They help lift cheekbones, correct the jaw line and fill the lip contour. Sometimes even one ampoule is enough to achieve a fast and good result. You will see the effect immediately, but it will get even better within two weeks. Usually, the effect of these injections lasts 12-18 months, depending on the medicinal product and the area to which the injections are administered. There is no age restriction, but the most suitable time to start with filler injections is when the first lines start to appear.
“If you look in the mirror and notice “crow’s feet” in the corners of your eyes, sunken cheekbones and lines on the lips, you could make an appointment for free consultation with our specialists”, suggests Kristel Kaur. “But you have to remember that the aim of battling your wrinkles is not an absolutely smooth face, but fresh and healthy looks. This means that with filler injections you do not have to fear the effect that would make your friends wonder: oh, what have they done to you?! Today, the focus is on natural looks. Beware of unprofessionals
It happens quite often that botulinum toxin and filler injections are confused. “Their simple difference is that filler injections fill and botulinum toxin injections relax”, explains Kristel Kaur. “Because of that you will not lose your mimic and will still be able to raise your eyebrows in surprise and smile. You will have the unnatural result if the injections are given by unprofessionals”.
Filler injections are a good alternative to plastic surgery due to their efficiency and fast recovery. The procedure allows emphasizing your own beauty or correcting drawbacks in the face area, which you would like to hide. “The advantage of filler injections compared to plastic surgery is that the patient has total control of what is happening – during the entire procedure the patient can watch herself in the mirror and monitor the process”, adds Kristel Kaur. “The recovery period is minimal. Nothing is cut or sewn, only extremely fine needles are used, which traumatize the skin to a minimum. Besides, the result is not irreversible – after the effect of filler injections has ended, the patient can decide whether to repeat the procedure or not.
When creams do not help any more…
“So far I have managed well taking care of my face skin during my 45 years thanks to healthy life style and high-quality beauty creams”, admits Krista Kiin, beauty column editor of Eesti Naine. “But lately I have noticed that smile lines at the outer corners of my eyes, which until now seemed quite charming, have become somewhat deeper. The makeup cream and powder made the lines even more conspicuous, and this was annoying. In addition to even complexion you would also like to have a possibly smooth face as well, wouldn’t you?”
This is why I made an appointment with Medemis Clinic. “My face was thoroughly analyzed, during which the clinic’s Manager Kristel Kaur assessed the peculiarities of my face. She considered my facial expressions, peculiarities of muscles as well as asymmetries. We talked about my naturally bluish circles under the eyes, deepening ‘crow’s feet’ and my lips that turned dry and rough in changing weather. Fortunately, there were at least practically no nasolabial folds, or lines between the nose and mouth. Filler injections cannot help me with my dark circles under my eyes, but they definitely can solve my other two beauty problems. Prompt and concrete result.
Kristel Kaur found that three injections would be the best option for Krista. The injections would lift her cheekbones, reduce the ‘crow’s feet’ and give volume to her lips. “According to Kristel, the lines at my nose would also need some smoothening”, said Krista. “The face analysis was done, and then local anaesthesia was applied to my face and lips with the help of gel, which made my face unusually cool. About ten minutes later, Kristel started administering injections of medicine into different areas of my face. Several injections were made, which were quite superficial and practically painless, they seemed like mosquito bites. I was surprised that I could immediately see the results – the area around the eyes was much smoother and my lips had more volume. When I returned to work, no one of my colleagues noticed anything extraordinary. Due to the speed and comfort of filler injections they can indeed be called a lunch-break procedure!
I was afraid of bruises that might have developed in the injected areas by the morning, but when I woke up, the face was not even swollen; on the contrary, it looked fresher than usually in the morning. From there on, I became more satisfied with my appearance, which boosted my confidence. I can assure you that fears as if filler injections would make your mimic similar to a porcelain doll are totally ungrounded – the result is a natural and rejuvenated face!
