Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels. Redness that occurs due to dilated or broken capillaries mainly on the face and legs causes certain aesthetic concerns. If you take a look at the dilated capillaries through a magnifying glass, you will see that the areas with such capillaries look as if there were covered with a fine red web. Such skin conditions is also called couperose skin. However, the skin condition that has become chronic and is characterised by acute phases is called rosacea.
For treating couperose, the photorejuvenation procedure is used at Medemis. Photorejuvenation is based on IPL (intensive pulsed light), which shrinks the dilated blood vessels and thus reduces redness of the skin. IPL treatment calls forth a light reactive inflammation in the skin, which encourages the renewal of collagen. As a result, the skin renews and becomes more elastic. Photorejuvenation improves overall skin texture and complexion.
To remove single capillaries on face (on cheeks, nose etc.) a special laser device is used.
