Restylane

Soft-tissue fillers can help fill in lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face.

Restylane consist of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid is what gives our skin volume. With age, we lose this volume - which is, in part, due to shrinkage of hyaluronic acid. Restylane lasts six to twelve months depending on the area treated. Since there are no known allergic reactions, skin testing is not needed. Restylane is injected into the skin to treat wrinkles, facial folds and thin lips after a nerve block or topical anaesthetic is applied. The results are instantaneous and normal activity can be resumed immediately.

The treatment is quick (30 minutes) and the result lasts 6-12 months, depending on the area of the injection and varies from person to the next.
